If you have either acquired or sold a property in Ireland previously you may well have been left frustrated at the length of the time the legal conveyancing process takes. With this in mind, the IPAV have introduced a Bill which will come before the Dail Eireann on 23rd November next. This is a really progressive and essential piece of legislation that I hope will get cross party support. It is in everyone’s interest that the process of buying and selling properties is as efficient as possible.
What the pack proposes is that it would contain essential legal information on the property that would be provided upfront and at the start of the process as opposed to assembling this after a sale has been agreed. This should help prospective buyers and their advisors have an informed view on the specifics of the property that is on offer and prevent often significant delays occurring later in the process. Consumers both sellers and buyers will really see the benefit of this if it becomes law.
